God chose the foolishness of preaching whereby we can be saved, according to I Corinthians 1:21: ‘it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
We preach Christ crucified to the Jews a stumbling both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men. God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things that are mighty…that no flesh should glory in His presence.
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus who has became for us wisdom of God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, that, as it is written, ‘He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.’ (I Cor 1:21-31)
Somehow God has chosen the ear as the receptacle of faith for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) The ear is made to hear the Word of God. That is why Jesus continually said, ‘let those who have ears to hear, hear…’ (Matthew 13:8)
There is a difference between listening and hearing. You can listen to a sermon and not hear what is being said. Your mind is wandering. You are thinking about something else. The words are just washing over you and not going in. Hearing demands attention and attention needs proper focus.
We receive the engrafted Word of God through meekness. Meekness develops a teachable spirit because it knows how to submit. (James 1:21) The implanted Word of God is able to save your soul.
In the parable of the Soils Jesus compared the good soil of the heart that produces a good harvest to an understanding heart. (Matthew 13:23)
That is why Solomon told his son, ‘get understanding’ because understanding establishes you.
The Old Testament & New Testament prophets acted out the Word they were proclaiming so people could both see & hear the message clearly.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. That is why God sends people to go and preach to all the nations of the world. How can they hear without a preacher? How can they preach except they be sent? How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? (Romans 10:14)
God chose preaching to bring the Word of God to people. It is foolish to sit and listen to someone preaching, but it is wise to do so if you understand what is taking place.
The Word of God is being conveyed to you through the receptacle of the ear to reach your heart, the center of your will, and to bring about a change of mind. God’s creative Word is being imparted to you to affect a change. The Word stirs up faith in your heart to believe God for your needs such as salvation, healing, guidance and trust in the Invisible God.
Something is taking place inside of you right now as you hear this Word of God. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in you. He mixes the Word of God with faith in your heart to produce a good harvest.
Let those who have ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.
The best thing you can do for yourself and your family is to sit under the Word of God.
David said: ‘They Word is a lamp unto my feet, it is a light unto my path.’ (Psalm 119:105)
Without faith it is impossible to please God. When you hear the Word of God speaking to you faith arises in your heart. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:6)
Anything is possible to those who believe. Nothing shall be impossible to our God. If you can believe it, you will receive it!
If you believe it in your heart and confess it with your mouth you shall have it. (Mark 11:23) Whatever you ask God in prayer, believe you receive it and you shall have it. (Mark 11:24)
All you need is faith the size of a mustard seed, the smallest seed on earth, to put in a great God. If you can say, ‘I believe’, in the face of all contrary evidence, you shall overcome. We overcome things in this world even by our faith.
So the Word of God is the key to faith. When you read it, believe it is God speaking to you. When you hear the Word being preached, believe God is speaking to you. When you receive a prophecy judge if it is according to the Word of God and then believe it is God speaking to you. When you have a dream see if it lines up with the Word of God and then believe it and act on it.
Faith requires action. By doing what the Word tells you to do things around you will change.
