1. Comfort of perfection – converting the soul.
1Th_5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jas_5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
3Jn_1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
We need to work in all three areas of our being. God is a three-part entity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. We are made in His image and are also a three part being. We are a spirit, we possess a soul (Mind Will and Emotions) and we live in a body with all its faculties. The Greeks spoke about a ‘breath’ that brings life to all our being ‘pneuma’ and the Hebrews understand that God breathed into man and he became a living being. Scientists are still working on that source of power beyond the bio-chemical understanding of the human life. They will never find out because it is hidden from them – it is our spirit. Because fools saying their heart: “there is no God.” They therefore denounce their own source of life giving power and negate the power of the spirit in their own lives.
Image H1823 demûth
From H1819; resemblance; concretely model, shape; adverbially like: – fashion, like (-ness, as), manner, similitude.
Related to the word H1819 dâmâh pronounced daw-maw’
to compare; by implication to resemble, liken, consider: – compare, devise, (be) like (-n), mean, think, use similitudes.
2Co 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
If we work with the Holy Spirit, we can actually cleanse ourselves of the stains of sin and whatever life throws at us – we are encouraged to do so with apostolic authority by Paul here.
No wonder Satan is doing all he can to distort our own perception of who we are in Christ, to rob us of the considerations and manners of God – our Maker in Whose image we are fashioned and modelled after, inbreathed and enthused by His Spirit.
2. Comfort of true testimony – makes the simple wise
These are the Words – Dabar – H1697 – dâbâr – BDB Definition:
1) speech, word, speaking, thing
1a) speech
1b) saying, utterance
1c) word, words
1d) business, occupation, acts, matter, case, something, manner
Deu_4:45 These are the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which Moses spoke to the children of Israel after they came out of Egypt,
Deu_6:17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.
Deu_6:20 “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which the LORD our God has commanded you?’
Then we can explain to the next generation what God has done and what His judgments have accomplished in our lives. We overcome by the word of our testimony, blood of the Lamb and not loving our lives unto death.
3. Comfort of righteousness – it rejoices the heart
Rom_10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Jas_2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS ACCOUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” And he was called the friend of God.
A good friend knows the heart of his friend – God found such a friend in Abraham, in Moses, in David – who was after God’s heart on the matter and who would do all His will.
4. Comfort of purity – it enlightens the eyes and the pure in heart see God.
Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
We heard recently, a reminder to remove the plank from our own eye so that we may see clearly to remove the speck from another’s eye! Then you can see clearly to help someone else.
Keeping our heart pure towards others becomes a daily routine of self-denial.
5. Comfort of the reverence of God – it cleans and gives wisdom to the heart, and helps us endure forever.
Pro_9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Fear opens your heart for wisdom to enter and start to accomplish deep cleansing of the spirit, soul and body.
When you are baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire, that facet of God’s wisdom and understanding starts to change your entire operating system and your life gets a wisdom upgrade!
6. Comfort of true judgment – right standing with God and man, sweetness of the soul, more precious than gold.
Psa_97:8 Zion hears and is glad, And the daughters of Judah rejoice Because of Your judgments, O LORD.
Psa_105:5 Remember His marvellous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
Psa_105:7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
Psa_119:7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.
The Psalmists kept referring to God’s judgments and place them in high rank of importance in worship.
In spiritual mount Zion where the church of the Firstborn is registered spiritually (Hebrews 12:22-24) God the Judge of all resides. The end of the matter is God’s judgment no matter what tribe or creed or tongue and we shall all, as believers appear at the judgment seat of Christ, where we shall be judged according to our works. Unbelievers will be judged at the great white throne – see Foundation Course: Eternal Judgment – available as a course via correspondence form Miracle Bible Training Centre.
