I attended a filmmaker’s course with an emphasis on screen writing at the Artscape in Cape Town, 2003. They gave us some points in character development that I found very useful. But looking at it from a spiritual perspective has really given me some Riches of inner Character:
Desire
Psa 37:4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Point of View
Exo 7:1 So the LORD said to Moses: “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
Exo 7:2 You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.
Conflict
Php 1:29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
Php 1:30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
Obstacles
Rom 9:33 As it is written: “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STUMBLING STONE AND ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME.”
Change
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.
Motivation
Pro 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.
Attitude
Pro 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Personality
1Pe 3:4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Behaviour
Joh 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Secret
Psa 25:12 Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
Psa 25:13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth.
Psa 25:14 The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.
May the Lord be the Author and Finisher of our Character Development as well as our faith!
